Town terraces often have shallow rear yards, alley access and bedrooms that sit close to the condenser position, so noise and airflow have to be designed in from the start. Northfleet adds both older streets and later housing, including plots where industrial heritage and newer infill sit together. Further out, Meopham, Shorne, Cobham, Istead Rise and Longfield include village and suburban houses with more room for plant, though they are still Gravesham or neighbouring commuter stock rather than coastal bungalows.
Flats and converted buildings near the river raise leasehold and shared-elevation questions as well as siting. A survey should look at wall construction, the consumer unit, condensate on a compact plot, and whether a single bedroom or a through-lounge is the space that actually overheats. Thames-side humidity and solar gain on west-facing rear additions are local load factors, not reasons to skip a proper heat-load check.
